Protecting Forests from Destruction

What Your Family Can Do to Help?

Deforestation is one of the biggest problems our planet faces today. With forests across the globe being cut down, it affects so many areas of our planet. Entire ecosystems are being destroyed, leaving wildlife without homes and many animals facing extinction. The destruction of forests is also one of the most significant contributors to global warming. It is essential to our children’s futures to teach them about conservation and protecting our planet. So, what can you do to help?

Reduce the use of one-time-use products

When you choose a product you can use repeatedly, this can reduce your use of one-time-use products. When you are using fewer products, the demand goes down for buying one-time-use products.

Choose to go paperless

We all know paper comes from trees, but when we choose to go paperless, this helps keep trees in the forests. Many times, when we get bills in the mail, they end up not even being opened. Choose the paperless option when available and talk to your kids about not wasting paper or paper products when they are not needed.

Plant a tree

Reforestation is the key to building back the significant amount of deforestation that has happened across our planet. When we plant a tree or donate to programs that plant trees, we are building a piece of our children's futures on this planet. You can turn this into a teaching moment for your family on why trees are an essential part of our ecosystem and what they contribute to our planet.

Educate your family on where your products are coming from

When you are buying items, whether it is household products, clothes, or food, make sure to find out where your products are coming from. Talk to your children about where the product in your home comes from and how it is made. Make sure to buy forest-friendly products.

Visit a forest near you

Research a forest in your area and plan a visit with your family. Here, you can teach your little ones about the ecosystems of forests. Make sure to visit a park ranger and find out how you can help the local forests near you! Talk to your children about the magic forests offer and take the time to explore the forest together.

Find a conservation program to support

Take the time to research with your kids and find a conservation to support that helps fight the destruction of forests. Help your kids find fun ways to earn money to donate to this noble cause. You can match your kid's dollar per dollar what they earn and donate together to make a difference and save a forest!

Keep exploring!
